It becomes very apparent that Julie knows many secrets thanks to Roland.ĭerek and Julie go on a mission to avenge a family that was killed for a mysterious rock. We also find out that Julie knows way more than Kat thinks she does.
Many connections between those two concepts were made. You know, like how Hugh was Roland’s Herald. This book stars Derek (The Grey Wolf) and Julie, who has appointed herself with the title of Kate’s Herald. This little book probably will make me go back and read all the other novellas that I’ve neglected. This was my first Kat Daniels novella and I was not disappointed. There is violence and gore, and the world is complex, but the constant sarcasm and epic banter between characters keeps it light enough to make these books fun and highly entertaining. These books are action packed from start to finish, instantly sweeping you up up in the horror and excitement of it all. It’s a unique perspective on a dangerous post-apocalyptic world that sways between waves of magic and tech, giving power to paranormal creatures and leaving disaster in its wake. This is a wonderful urban fantasy series that has a great mix of magic and paranormal goings on.
